Introduction – National President – Shamima Gaibie

As part of its regular engagements with the Labour Court and the CCMA, SASLAW has been requested to provide the Court and the CCMA respectively with feedback from its members.

As you may be aware, the Labour Court, under the guidance of Judge Van Niekerk and others, continuously seek to put measures in place to effectively manage the case load and to improve the administration of the court. A recent initiative in this regard is the setting down of matters for a pre-hearing. We invite you to share your experiences in this regard with us and to provide us with proposals and recommendations as to how this process might be improved. We also invite you to provide us with your feedback in relation to any other issues that you might have experienced pertaining to trials at the Labour Court, including steps to be taken by the parties to ensure that they are ready for trial on the dates allocated. Your representations and feedback, where appropriate, will be collated and communicated to the Court.
