Judge van Niekerk is a Judge of the Labour Appeal Court, having been appointed effective 1 January 2024, following many years of distinguished service as a Labour Court Judge. He has played a formative and influential role in the development of South African labour law in various capacities, and was closely involved in the drafting and adoption of the new Labour Court Rules.
